DBM is non-optional for tanks. You need to know when the boss casts an ability that resets your Shield Block charges, when to pop Last Stand before a scripted bleed, or when to keep Spell Reflection ready for a magic nuke. The pull countdown timer also affects your pre-combat Shield Block rotation — hitting it too early wastes a charge before the first melee swing even lands.

For Protection Warrior, Details! goes beyond raw damage — the damage breakdown shows how much of your intake was blocked, absorbed by Ignore Pain, or leaked through as real damage requiring healer attention. In M+, use the effective health view to benchmark your survivability against other tank specs at the same key level. Your raid team uses it to see your Ignore Pain absorption, which directly informs healer mana planning.

Platynator puts interrupt cooldowns on enemy nameplates, so as the tank pulling packs you can see at a glance which casts are covered by your group and which need your Spell Reflection or a Pummel. For Protection Warrior specifically, the nameplate color shifts as you build threat — which matters at the start of M+ pulls where you're transitioning from initial aggro to positioning for the next cast.

Protection Warrior has a complex active mitigation rotation: Shield Block needs near-100% uptime, Last Stand is your major oh-shit button, and Spell Reflection has tight sub-25-second windows on specific pull patterns.
